Vacation...had to get away.....

Saturday: We left our 90 degree Texas weather behind in search of some traditional October weather. We dubbed this day "Mass Transit Day" because basically that was our entire day! Shuttle to the airport, airplane, airport, switch planes, shuttle to the rental car, drive, drive. The trip was uneventful, for which I am thankful. {Drama at the airport is not a good thing!} Every time I travel the friendly skies, I remember how much I really prefer to drive! :) Once we arrived in Providence, Rhode Island we hooked up with our friends, John & Sylvia who arrived on a different flight. Even with a reservation our rental car choices were #1 Ford Conversion van in either white or red #2 Chrysler Sebring, which just so happens to be a convertible. Hummm....which do you think we chose? So we piled four rather large suitcases, four carry on bags and four grown adults into one rather small vehicle. Cozy is nice.
Sunday: 'Ferry Fun Day' We were up and at 'em early...you know how it is at the beginning of your vacation, you can hardly sleep and are ready to see it all! We drove to Woods Hole, Mass. to board a ferry to Martha's Vineyard.

When I say Cape Cod...is this what you picture in your minds' eye?

Yeah, me too! *smile* The cape is very beautiful with its shake board homes, sailboats and traditional architecture. The weather was also just what you would imagine....cold, windy, drizzle. We joked about needing a yellow rain slicker just like this guy! We rented a Jeep Wrangler to cruise around the island....yes, another insanely small vehicle!

One of many private homes that were simply incredible.

A short drive to the southwest tip of the island took us to the Gay Head Lighthouse.

Nobska Point Lighthouse

Fabulous Cape Cod sunset.

To celebrate my smoke free status... {Sylvia has been invaluable in my quit process} ...John & Sylvia treated us to dinner at The Roadhouse in Hyannis, MA. John thought our waitress was like a Chinese fortune cookie....sharing her wisdom...hey John....."make it count!"

More to follow...this was just day one & two...we were gone for a week! Together Brian & I shot approximately 1000 pictures...that's a lot of sorting & editing! {Starting to be like Liz!}
