Jackson Glacier One of the 20 glaciers left in the park.
I spotted this wasp nest..doesn't it look like they made it out of duct tape? We took a day tour of the park in one of the famous Red Buses.
Our tour guide, Bill, literally talked for 8 straight hours. We learned about avalanches, rock slides, Blackfoot Indians, tee pees, and so much more. The red coaches seat 17 passengers and have a canvas top that rolls back for better mountain views. The paint color is fashioned after the ripe mountain ash berry. Bill navigated us up and over the mountains via the Going to the Sun Road....beautiful. We stayed here at the Glacier Park Lodge, built in 1915 by the Great Northern Railroad. No newspapers, Internet, or television...without those things to preoccupy... people gathered in the grand lobby to tell stories, sit by the fire, read a book or play a game of dominoes. A truly relaxing place to be...far removed from the hustle & bustle....fabulousness.
