Spring Road Trip '09

The spring Texas road trip has become tradition. The temperatures are typically mild (as compared to the blazing hot-ness that is summer around here) and the days are beginning to lengthen giving us plenty of day light. This year the only weather related obstacle was a good old fashioned thunderstorm for the first two days of our journey, after that...smooth sailing!
It is impossible for one (me) to drive southbound on I 35 past the
HUGE outlet mall south of San Marcos and not stop in, just for a little bit!
~~~
I needed the purse. really.
After the shopping mecca, we headed for Gruene.
The dance hall, the general store, antiques and
a lovely dinner on the banks of the Guadalupe river.
The general store offers an incredible selection of salsa, hot sauces and candies...
old time candies that your average gas station doesn't carry anymore, like Slo Pokes!
From Gruene, we continued southbound to San Antonio...
Rita's on the River.
{note the extremely large margarita glass in the background}
The river walk/San Antonio is totally worth the trip-
incredible atmosphere, tons of shopping & restaurants.
Oh yeah...and remember the Alamo!
To add to the fun, we got rear ended while waiting at a stop light.
Thankfully no one was injured.
Except my Hot Rod's bumper.
