Recipe | Magda's Salsa

My friend Magda makes some KILLER salsa.
And when I say killer, I mean killer good
I always ask Mags if its hot and how many
peppers she put in?
I am, afterall, a gringo!  ;)
When I asked for the recipe, she laughed...
because there is no recipe!
She reviewed the basics for me.
Tomato, a bit of onion, jalapenos and
serrano peppers charred on the grill.
Add cilantro, salt, garlic, lemon and lime juice
mix in the blender.......
Mine turned out pretty good,
but Magda's salsa is still the best!

DOGgonit!

The urban dictionary defines Doggonit as-
'an expression of showing mild or high frustration.'

Tanner and I are highly frustrated.
Tanner gets a walk twice a day. {on a leash, btw.}
We walk for the exercise,
we walk to get some fresh air,
we walk to expend extra puppy energy
and lets be honest here...to poop.
{which I pick up & carry in a bag}

We are frustrated because on our evening
walks we are frequently accosted by a
fat, aggressive, golden retriever who
runs towards us at full speed, barking
and growling like he intends to rip out our
throats...and trailing behind him is his
Scottie sidekick.

It happened again last night...
the fat retriever came at us and the
owner stood there and
did nothing to stop him, NOTHING!
I was so doggone mad!
Even though we were almost home,
I turned Tanner around and we back tracked
to avoid dismemberment.

I have had it with these people.
They are bad pet owners and horrible neighbors.
Letting your animal run free on the street is NOT
okay, in fact it is against the law.
If your animal needs to run -
get off your fat ass, get a leash and walk him!!

That was the final straw for me and last night
I filed an 'aggressive dog' complaint via the
city's animal control website.
First thing this morning I received an email saying
an officer will be dispatched to the location.

I will not allow these bullies to deter us from
walking in our neighborhood.
You are either part of the problem...
or part of the solution.

My new washer & dryer were

That something dawned when I went to the closet to
set out my scrubs for work tomorrow
and couldn't find my white jacket...

I left a load of clothes in the old freaking dryer!!!

Known missing:
1. white scrub jacket
2. white nike socks with a pink swoosh
3. master bathroom hand towel
4. assorted wash clothes
5. kitchen towel/rags
6. various undies

...now some Best Buy delivery dude is wearing my undies!!!
I am so special.

happy heart

just a few things making my heart happy right now~

This verse:
Cause me to hear Your loving kindness
in the morning, For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I
should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.
Psalms 143:8

This face:
My goodness.
His 2nd birthday party invite with this picture
is sitting on the windowsill above the sink-
makes me laugh & snort a little...pure cuteness.
This wine monkey:
and the fact that my sweet cousin
thought of me when she saw it!

bsktgirl creates...

I've been itch'n to create.
I've found some new blogs
that have completely inspired me.
I came across this super-duper cute pattern
and just had to give it a try!
I also want to re-store/paint/re-purpose some
old furniture...we'll just save that for another day, ok?
First stop...the quilt shop.
Fabric is a lot like scrapbook paper...
so many gorgeous choices!
Now...to make my very own Gathered Clutch!
I was hopeful, but reserved because the pattern
calls for a zipper! {gasp} Plus, I'm not always the
best at following directions!
Here we are part way through...!
The fabric is super cute,
I'm not sure the photos do it justice...trust me!
TaDa!!!
The finished product...a mere 3 hours later!
I am so proud of this little gem...I cant even stand myself!!!  ;)

Hot Hunter

The extended forecast...
This explains why I have no motivation
other than to nap in a darkened room with a fan
every afternoon.
I am the great white hunter
and this is my weapon...
I snapped my first victim in 30 minutes.
However, I believe there are more...
and I will prevail.

Little House + Bass Hall

As for our 'little house' things have not been running smoothly.  The new washer/dryer have arrived. However, she sunk on the maiden voyage. *curses* The rusty old drain pipe couldn't handle the new & improved and poured soapy water all over the laundry room floor.  Good thing I was standing nearby and heard the gush.
AND THEN...when the second load was finished and ready for the dryer - it was as if the tub drained but did not spin.  *perfect*  So, needless to say, we will be having a new machine delivered this week.

In other news...we finally got to see a show at the Bass Performance Hall in downtown Fort Worth.  A visit there has been on my list.  Thank you, BSG for humoring me and seeing Little House on the Prairie, The Musical!  You da best!  xoxo

The Hall is done in Art Deco style with marble floors and a wonderful fresco on the ceiling.

We sat in the cheap seats on the Lower Gallery
and discussed Statler & Waldorf
and President Lincoln's assassination.
The show was just okay, in my opinion.
We had a difficult time hearing/understanding the songs
and the stage was really far away.
I couldn't get an up close and personal view of Melissa Gilbert.
Plus  - I could have done without the rotten little boy kicking my seat the entire time...
he could have cared less about Laura Ingalls Wilder.
I have seen every episode of Little House...at least 10 times.
Everyday after school my sisters and
I would get off the bus, grab a snack
and watch life's drama unfold in Walnut Grove.
I've always wanted long hair in braids...

this that & the other...

I found this amusing...
Haven't you met people and thought this very thing?
Random, I know.
I'm loving the picture of BSG & his big red truck...
"boys will be boys!"
I found this artist on Etsy...especially digging this one.

Thanks to the scrap convention, I found the most perfect scrapbooking desk.

Currently loving this design blog.

I know that several of you lovelies who follow
my blog enjoy photography.
I want to share with you
this link to Jane & David's wedding photos.
Jane is my friend and co-worker who ran off to Prague
to get married...the pictures are amazing ~congratulations, Janie!

Currently vacillating between these two trains of thought:

That's all for now...toodles!

Here is a small sampling of the loot!
Super cute vintage homemaker papers...perfect for cards.
Be still my heart...authentic vintage buttons!
