Retroactive...

Okay, back to the vacation.....{be prepared, it's a long one!}
First thing Wednesday we stopped off at the DeLorme headquarters in Yarmouth, Maine. You may not realize, but Brian is a huge map fan....I've never known anyone to study a map like him! :) We browsed the gift shop and marveled at Eartha...DeLorme's Guinness record holding globe. This globe is 41.5 feet in diameter, rotates and revolves just like the earth! Very cool indeed.

New Hampshire is laden with gorgeous covered bridges & we made it our mission to photograph as many as we possibly could! Here is a sampling of my favorites!

In the White Mountains...

we drove the very scenic Crawford Notch.

We stopped off to see the Mount Washington Cog Railway. This little railroad reminded me somehow of Pee Wee's playhouse...all crooked and decorated with bright colors! :)

We spent several nights in North Conway, NH. at the Kearsarge Inn. In a complete twist of fate, they placed us in a room with a railroad theme! Hum, fancy that!

On the Conway Scenic Railroad we enjoyed a delightful ride through the fall foliage. We had 1st class tickets aboard the Gertrude Emma, outside on the observation deck, you know, where the president stands to deliver his thank you speech!

This old Canadian National steam engine was built in 1921.

Brian and I so enjoyed our visit to New England and have plans to return in a couple of years to photograph what we missed!
