Viva Las Vegas | Day Four

Day four - The Valley of Fire.
Our guide, Tim, shared his knowledge and love of the valley...
providing us many opportunities to soak up the views.
Joining us, two delightful gentlemen on holiday from Germany.
The man on the left, Franz, was quite fluent in English but was reluctant to speak at first.
He owns a concrete company.  The other man {sad that I never caught his name} was his friend/employee who has an interest in American Indian culture & history.

BSG and I nicknamed them Hans & Franz - ala Saturday Night Live.
"We're here to pump YOU up!"
The Arch.
Created by the wind, rain and sand.
Sooner or later it will succumb to the elements
...and fall.
Part of the cycle of life.
The Man on the Moon...
can you see him?
The night before the tour brought rain.
BSG & I thought nothing of it -
as it rains all the time in North Texas.
But for Nevada, in the desert, it was rare, welcome and quite novel.
Tim remarked several times that the valley looked so different.
I'm pretty sure it was because the rain had washed a layer of dust off!
Pre historic Indian petroglyphs.
Pre historic, like as in 300 bc - 1100 ad.
Intriguing.
I call this one...
Red Rover, Red Rover send _____ right over!
Beautiful cacti in red...
and yellow.
While walking through a narrow valley, with steep red rock cliffs and a sandy floor - I spotted these two...wonder how long they had been watching us?

Neat pictures! Too bad you didn't have blue skies for your photos!
